This way and that
Up and down the page
Left to right, top to bottom,
Creating triangles of advance,
Straight lines of defence,
Until silence gives way to thuds with a shot at goal.
And confusion reigns, muddling the mind,
Bamboozling the team into corners
As the advancing army pierces its way forward,
Rampaging bodies in tackles
While the crowd cheers in a colosseum of frenzy
Until it dies down in disappointment
Waiting for the next sequence of excitement.
