Lovingly assembled
Poles and rolls,
Reeds and beads.

Spurning the bivouac
Along with his rucksack.
Patiently woven
Flowers and feathers
Twigs and sprigs.
Beak up
Rejecting the nest
Expecting the best
Speedily packed
Ice and dice
Block and clock.
Thumbs up
Crawling in
Life can begin.

Igloo Village, Gstaad, Switzerland.
In Inuit tradition a man had to prove his worth to his bride by building the igloo within an hour. The weaver bird, too, must build a nest to his mate’s satisfaction, and a boy also needs to satisfy a childhood friend.
