Scraping the sky,
Competing with the murmur of starlings
Diving onto an ice rink of skaters 
Trying to dodge each other,
As an orchid reaches upward
Searching peaceful coexistence 
With billionaires' mansions
And waiting for the ball to fall 
On Times Square, 
Though we're out of kilt, 
Well behind the times
But still with it enough
To know the other person matters 
Even in the Security Council.
